One of the things Finland is known for is for being the home of the former mobile industry king, Nokia. It has been a few years since the Nokia smartphone brand returned to its home country, and now its new owners, HMD Global, is cementing it with the launch of a new R&D center in the city of Tampere.

A press statement released by the manufacturer today said they have also acquired the assets of Valona Labs which is an expert in mobile, enterprise, and cybersecurity software.

The new R&D center will develop software and services for mobile security, remote device locking, enterprise mobility management, secure network communication, and black-box testing. HMD Global adds that there are plans to add imaging and audio technologies in the future.

With the launch of the new center comes immediate recruitment of staff who shall be headed by Ari Heikkinen, the award-winning Head of Unit for Valona Labs.

The new center will help HMD Global cement the trust it has earned in providing secure and up-to-date services for its customers.
