Xiaomi has scheduled a launch event for June 15 called “Xiaomi Ecosystem Product Launch”. This was shared via a tweet on the Xiami global official Twitter handle. While the post did not reveal the product that would be launched on that day, an accompanying teaser poster points to the event being a feast of some sort.Xiaomi

From the poster, we can confirm that one of the products that would be launched on that day is the Mi Band 5 for the global market. The smart wearable device will debut on the global scene as Mi Smart Band 5. This is in line with the company’s promise to launch the smart band for the international market this July. The event will commence at 20.00 GMT+8 and be watched on the official Xiaomi Twitter, Facebook pages and YouTube channel.

Further, the poster also shows the company will launch an electric scooter, possibly the MIJIA Electric Scooter 1S which was launched in China recently. The scooter comes with all the bells and whistles of a durable scooter and adopts a cheap 1,999 yuan ($232) price tag. In addition, a Xiaomi Display Monitor will also join the fray and possibly a smart door lock among others.

There is no doubt that the Mi Smart Band 5 will be the star of the event. The fitness band will come with a larger 1.1-inch AMOLED dynamic color display. It also brings several upgrades over the Mi Smart Band 4 such as an upgrade of the number of sports modes from just 6 on the Smart Band 4 to 11 on the Mi Smart Band 5. The new additional models include cycling, jump rope, yoga, elliptical and rowing machine.

The wrist band also come with over 100 theme sets and ATM5 water resistance which means they can withstand being kept underwater up to a depth of 50m. In addition, the smart band features seven (7) new features such as pressure assessment, breathing training, PAI index (Personal Activity Intelligence), women’s health tracking and remote shutter control. There is also support for 24-hour sleep monitoring and REM (Rapid eye movements) detection.v

On the design aspect, the new smart wearable device utilises a magnetic snap-on charger design. The global variant is also expected to feature support for Amazon Alexa and Google Pay but we are not so sure about that. Besides, the retail box of the global variant leaked recently showing it won’t have NFC, SpO2 and Alexa support onboard. We’ll have to wait until the launch event to find out the true position of things.
