Last week, OPPO silently unveiled the OPPO A72 5G in China. The handset debuted as the world’s first phone powered by the Dimensity 720 5G chipset by MediaTek. As scheduled, the OPPO A72 5G was made available for purchase for the first time in the home market today.

The OPPO A72 5G comes in a sole version of 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. It is priced at 1,899 Yuan (~$271). The phone comes in color variants such as Simple Black, Neon, and Oxygen Violet. OPPO is yet to confirm the global availability of the phone.

The OPPO A72 5G features a 90Hz refresh rate supporting IPS LCD display of 6.5 inches. It delivers a 20:9 aspect ratio and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels. The Dimensity 720 SoC is coupled with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage.
The OPPO A72 5G has a 4,040mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The ColorOS 72 based Android 10 OS runs on the device. It has a front camera of 8-megapixel. The rear-positioned triple camera system includes a 16-megapixel main camera, a 119-degree ultrawide sensor, and a 2-megapixel black & white lens.
