LG Mobile has announced a new budget phone in the US. The new LG K31 packs modest specs and is sold unlocked in the country.

LG K31

The LG K31 has a 5.7-inch FullVision HD+ display with a waterdrop notch and Panda King Glass screen protection. This is a budget device, so its thick bezels can be forgiven. There is an Helio P22 octa-core processor under the hood along with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The spec sheet says only 17GB is usable though that figure is said to vary depending on software versions and settings.

On the back of the phone is a 13MP f/1.8 PDAF main camera that is paired with a 5MP ultrawide angle camera that has a 120° field of view. You get a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies and video calling and with features such as Gesture Shot, Auto Shot, and Gesture Interval Shot.

LG has also added a fingerprint scanner to the phone and it sits just below the horizontally-placed rear cameras. Under the hood is a non-removable 3000mAh battery that charges via a MicroUSB port. The phone also has an audio jack at the bottom.

The right side of the phone is home to the power button while the left houses the volume rocker, a dedicated Google Assistant key, and the SIM tray. There is support for a MicroSD card but the maximum capacity is 32GB. The LG K31 is MIL-STD 810G compliant, has an M3/TR hearing aid rating, and runs Android 10 out of the box with LG UX 9.1 on top.

The phone is priced at $149.99 and is available in a single variant – silver. It is available for purchase on the official LG website.

LG will sell the phone under a different name in its home country. As you can see in the tweet below from Abhishek Yadav, the LG K31 is the same device as the LG Q31.

The device is also supposed to launch today but we didn’t find a listing for it on LG’s Korean website.
