In August this year, Xiaomi rolled out the much-anticipated Android 9 Pie beta update for the Mi Box 3. The update which has a file size of 620MB ushered in Android Pie to the Android TV box as well as brought support for the Mi Remote app.
Xiaomi has now started pushing Android 9 Pie stable update to the Mi Box 3 (via). The update brings support for Android TV 9.0 and support for the Mi Remote app to the stable channel.
The Mi Box 3 stable Android Pie update has a size of 650MB and also delivers the Android security patches for July 2020. Apart from the security patch, the update also brings a couple of new features to the Android TV box. Some of the features include a new settings layout, a new power menu that can be accessed by pressing and holding the power button, a less intrusive volume interface, preinstalled Amazon Prime Video app, a Mi Box recommends section in the app drawer, a shortcut for the Google Play Store, and more.
The Mi Box 3 is an affordable Android TV box that is powered by a quad-core Amlogic SoC, Mali 450 GPU, and 2GB of RAM. It supports 4K video playback at 60fps and Dolby Digital Plus audio.
