WhatsApp is known for its simplicity. But lately, the beta version of the app is being updated with new features inspired from other platforms. Last week, we saw the company implementing a feature called “Expiring Media”, followed by “Catalogue Shortcut” and revamped call button for business chats. Now, this week, the company has added an “Always Mute” option, new “Storage Usage” UI, and “Media Guidelines” in the build v2.20.201.10 for Android, according to WABetaInfo.

Always Mute

Sometimes we don’t need notifications from certain conversations. Hence, WhatsApp offers an option called “Mute”. The longest duration available at the moment in the stable builds is 1 year. But in the latest beta version, the company has finally added an “Always” option.

We are not sure when this option will hit the stable channel as it is still not live for all the beta users.

Storage Usage UI

The latest WhatsApp beta also brings a new “Storage Usage” UI with more details than the previous view. At the top, this page houses a modern bar with usage information. Below that, there’s an option to clean up unnecessary files along with two rows of all the received files with support for sorting.

Then, there’s a list of conversations with their sizes mentioned at the right side. This section also includes a search bar at the top so that users can easily search for the chats they want.

Media Guidelines

Last but not least, WhatsApp for Android Beta v2.20.201.10 also adds “Media Guidelines” just like on Instagram to help users align stickers and texts while editing images, videos, and GIFs.
