U.S watch maker Fossil group has launched a new smartwatch dubbed Gen 5E. The watch is a trimmed down versionĀ of the Gen 5 smartwatch that was launched last year. The Fossil Gen 5E smartwatch is offered in two sizes – 42mm and 44mm. Both versions feature a 1.19-inch OLED display. The watch is powered by the older Snapdragon Wear 3100 which has been replaced with the Wear 4100 by Qualcomm this year.
The processor is paired with 1GB of RAM and there is 4GB of internal storage onboard. Providing the power is a 300mAh battery. The watch also comes with NFC and has 3ATM water resistance property.
Furthermore, the Watch 5E also crams a speaker and microphone inside which makes it suitable for users to make and answer calls straight from the watch. The watch can also be used to trigger the voice assistant onboard the connected smartphone. One feature that is lacking on this model is standalone GPS. In order to access your location, the watch needs to be connected to a smartphone. There is also no ambient light sensor, altimeter, or compass onboard this model.
