Huawei will unveil the Mate 40 series of Smartphones on October 22. Ahead of the launch, a lot of leaks are spoiling the company’s keynote speech, with new details of the series. Now, a new leak by a tipster on Twitter reveals the details of the camera sensors.

The new leak comes from Teme(特米)(@RODENT950). He says the ultra-wide lens on the Mate 40 series will be a 20MP Sony IMX 718 sensor. The main sensor, which is believed to be 50MP, will be Sony IMX700Y. Now, both these sensors, as per the leaks, will be on all the devices across the board. Also, the Y here denotes the RYYB color filter that was present on the Huawei P30 Pro with 40MP Sony IMX650. That said, the main lens on the Mate 40 series gets an upgrade.

Moving on, he says the 12MP 5X optical Telephoto, which will probably be on the Mate 40 Pro may have a Sony IMX351Y sensor but he isn’t sure about it. However, he adds that the two 8MP Telephoto lens with 3x, and 10x Optical Zoom on the Mate 40 Pro+ will be a Sony IMX520 sensor.

If he is right, the front camera setup, which is most likely a pair of 13MP, and a 2MP lens inside the dual punch-hole will be Sony IMX688 sensor, a ToF sensor. Additionally, the setup will also include a “gesture sensor”.

Huawei Mate 40 series Camera Specifications(Expected)

To make you guys clear, Huawei Mate 40 series will mostly have four models- Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and Mate 40 Porsche design RS. Leaks so far say that Mate 40 will be delayed and the other three will go on sale initially. Across the board, they are likely to have an AMOLED 90Hz curved display, Kirin 9000 flagship SoC.

For cameras, all of the Pro including Porsche design will likely have a 50MP main lens, and a 20MP distortion-free ultra-wide. They are also likely to include color temperature sensors, and a single LED flash. However, Mate 40 Pro has 12MP with 5x Optical zoom while Pro+ and Porsche design likely have two 8MP lens with 3x(mid-range), and 10x zooms. Both of them could also have a ToF sensor instead of Laser focus on the Mate 40 Pro.
