Xiaomi‘s first curved display, Mi Surface 34-inch Gaming Display Monitor has gone back to the original price. The reason for this reportedly is the swap of companies for the display panels.

A Report on ITHome says that according to its source, Xiaomi was able to sell it at the reduced price because of Samsung. Apparently, it procured the panels from the Samsung LCD business so far with special support. Now, after Samsung Display exited the LCD business in China, it is left with no choice but to search for a panel supplier elsewhere.

This leaves Xiaomi with two major players in the Chinese market -BOE, and CSOT. And as the company’s 34-inch Monitor specifications match only with TCL CSOT panels, it has sought after the company. However, CSOT’s display panels reportedly cost at least $15 more than Samsung, and hence, the price has changed for the monitor, says the report.

That said, we looked up the new prices of the Mi Surface 34-inch Gaming Display Monitor. Do note that it launched for 2499yuan($378.22) but was available for 1999($302.54) yuan before the change. You can take a look at them across different websites below:
