Xiaomi has been seeding out MIUI 12 update to the eligible smartphones worldwide since late April. But still, the company is yet to complete the rollout. The latest device to get the firm’s newest mobile operating system is the global variant of Redmi 9, which is also known as Redmi 9 Prime in India.

Redmi 9 was one of the most-shipped smartphones in Q3 2020. Despite its popularity, Xiaomi is yet to release MIUI 12 for this handset worldwide. The firm began to roll out this update in late September in China. But the global version of this device has started receiving the same update only now.

The new system update comes with build number V12.0.1.0.QJCMIXM and is currently in the Stable Beta phase. That means it is only available for select users. If these early adopters don’t face any issue, then the same build will be made available for more users, followed by a wider rollout.

However, if this build happens to have some major bugs, Xiaomi will be releasing another build and it will go through the same cycle. Hopefully, the current build makes it to the Stable phase without further delaying the MIUI 12 update for users.

Having said that, Redmi 9 aka Redmi 9 Prime has four more variants namely India, Indonesia, Russia, and EEA. These versions of the phone should also start receiving the update in the coming days. We expect the company to finish the rollout by December end or later.
