Huawei recently unveiled the HarmonyOS 2.0 for a range of products and now the Chinese giant is expected to launch the same for smartphones tomorrow (16th December), starting with Developer Beta build.
Additionally, a report coming from a leaker claims that the HarmonyOS 2.0 Beta for smartphones has already been shipped to some developers and it seems that the kernel has been updated to make the OS smoother.
It also adds that the user interface is almost similar to the EMUI 11 but it could be different when the company ships the stable build, with a focus on enhancing the user experience. Further, the report adds that the newer version of the operating system supports both Android as well as HarmonyOS applications.
If true, then this is a major step by Huawei towards replacing the Android operating system on its smartphones. For those who are unaware, the Chinese giant has been trying to replace Android ever since the company was banned from using Google’s Android by the United State, by imposing sanctions.

After releasing the HarmonyOS 2.0 Smartphone Developer Beta version in China on 16th December at around 10:00 AM local time, the company’s experts will explain the key features and development tools.
Meanwhile, the company is expected to launch a HarmonyOS-powered smartwatch in the coming weeks. It is also said to be gearing up to launch a tablet powered by its own operating system, which could debut along with the P50-series flagship smartphones.
