Lava, the Indian mobile phone maker, has announced its new budget smartphone in the market, dubbed as Lava BeU. The company says that the phone is designed for women and comes with a crystal-studded design with floral speaker mesh.

Another reason for the device to be women-focused is that it comes pre-installed with a safety application. The smartphone is priced at ₹6,888 (approx. $93)and is set to be available for purchase in India from 5th January. It has already been listed on the company’s website in a Rose Pink color.

The device features a 6.08-inch HD+ display that offers a 1560 x 720 pixels screen resolution with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a 2.5D curved screen. There’s a waterdrop notch on top of the display for housing the front camera.

Under the hood, the device is powered by an octa-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz but the specific model is not yet known. It comes in just a single memory variant that packs 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expanding the storage.

In the camera department, there is a dual-camera setup on the back featuring a 13MP primary sensor with an f/1.85 aperture and a 2MP secondary sensor. On the front side, the device has an 8MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

As for the connectivity options, the device supports 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, Micro-USB, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back for added security. It runs Android 10 Go Edition and is powered by a 4,060mAh battery.

Lava was recently in the news for its phone manufacturing business. The company has reportedly started manufacturing Nokia and Motorola smartphones in India and is also in talks with major telecom network operators for the same.
