Sony is getting into the drone business and the company had first revealed its Airpeak drone a couple of months ago but now, during CES 2021, the company showcased it.

The Sony Airpeak drone is touted to be the smallest drone capable of carrying an Alpha-series camera. The company reveals that it is specially designed for video content creation and professional photography.

The drone has four rotors, two landing arms that lift up with takeoff. While not many details are known at this point in time, the Japanese company says that it has been exploring using drones to film landscape and city shots.

The company has shared video footage of the Airpeak drone in action in which it is filming the road test of the Vision-S smart car from the company. Sony Airpeak drone will be launched in Spring this year but the company has not yet revealed any specific timeline or the pricing details for the same.

Sony has been a leading player when it comes to cameras for photography and videography. Given that its first drone is focusing on the company’s strong points, it will be interesting to see the product performance in real life. It will be competing against the likes of DJI and Parrot, among others.
