WhatsApp announced changes to its privacy policy a few weeks ago. The announcement was met with disapproval as folks interpreted the changes to mean that their messages will no longer be private and their data will be exchanged with Facebook and its other services.
Following the development, several users numbering millions decided to switch to other messaging apps such as Telegram and Signal which offer better privacy. While WhatsApp has tried to reassure users about protecting and respecting their privacy via social media announcements, a blog post, full-page newspaper adverts, and even in-app stories, the deed has already been done and it will be hard to reverse it.
