As per an official Qualcomm announcement, Cristiano Amon, CEO elect and President of the company met with Agnès Pannier-Runacher, minister delegate for the industry in the French Government. This new research and development site will be a part of the company’s extensive R&D network and will also play an integral role by bringing in employees from the region to help develop 5G technology for the various markets across the globe.

The new 5G research and development facility also builds on “Qualcomm Communications SARL’s strong presence in France.” For those unaware, the chipmaking giant already has established facilities in the region for over 20 years. The new center is located in Lannion in Brittany and Issy-LesMoulineaux in the Paris-Region. For those unaware, Lannion is a center for telecoms engineering excellence and a European technology hub.
