Last month, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi announced the Redmi K40 smartphone in China. The Snapdragon 870 powered handset will be launching in global markets as the POCO F3 on March 22. A recent report claimed that the Redmi K40 and K40 Pro could be rebranded as Xiaomi Mi 11x and Mi 11X Pro in India. Tipster Mukul Sharma has spotted the model number of the Redmi K40 / Xiaomi Mi 11x in the Indian IMEI database, which indicates that its Indian launch could be drawing near.

The IMEI database mentions the device with is M2012K11AI model number. While the Chinese variant supports 5G connectivity, the IMEI listing reveals that the Indian variant will only support 4G LTE. The Redmi K40 Pro / Mi 11X Pro is yet to appear in the IMEI database of India.

Redmi K40 Specifications

The Redmi K40 has a 6.67-inch S-AMOLED display that produces a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 20:9 aspect ratio, and a 120Hz refresh rate. The MIUI 12 based Android 11 OS comes preinstalled on the smartphone. It is fitted with a side-facing fingerprint reader.

The handset has a front camera of 20-megapixel. The rear camera setup of the phone has a 48-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide sensor, and a 5-megapixel macro lens. The Snapdragon 870 mobile platform and a 4,520mAh battery powers the handset. It carries support for 33W rapid charging.

The Redmi K40 comes in multiple variants such as 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM+ 128 GB storage, 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. It is available at a starting price of 1,999 Yuan (~$307) and it comes in colors such as black, white, and blue.
