At the end of March, an iQOO phone with model number I2012 was spotted at the Google Play Console. This handset is believed to be the Snapdragon 870 powered iQOO Neo5 smartphone. Now the same handset has received approval from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India. The certification suggests that the iQOO Neo5 may go official alongside the iQOO 7 Legend smartphone later this month in India.

The BIS certification has no information on the specs of the iQOO Neo5. Its Google Play Console listing had revealed that it is equipped with a punch-hole display that offers Full HD+ resolution, Snapdragon 870 chipset, 8 GB of RAM, and Android 11 OS.

As far as other specs are concerned, the iQOO Neo5 has a 16-megapixel front camera, a 48-megapixel + 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel triple camera system, and a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. It features a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen with an in-screen fingerprint reader. Earlier this year, an iQOO phone with an I2011 model number was spotted at BIS. This model could be a variant of the Neo5.

iQOO India Director, Gagan Arora said in an interview with Technical Guruji that the company will be launching the iQOO 7 series of smartphones in India by the end of this month. The series will include the iQOO 7 Legend, which is a BMW Motorsport-inspired version of the iQOO 7, and another device. Probably, the iQOO Neo5 may get rebadged as the other iQOO 7 series phone in India.

To recollect, the company only launched two phones such as iQOO 3 4G and iQOO 3 5G last year in India. He revealed that iQOO smartphones will be made in India at Vivo’s manufacturing facility. He further said that customers of iQOO phones will be able to get support at select service centers of Vivo.
