According to a Reuters report, the vice president of the company issued the statement after it faced a ban from the Chinese military. For those unaware, the known electric vehicle maker is facing scrutiny in the region in terms of security and data collection. Previously, we had reported that the cars made by the company do not have cameras enabled by default outside of North America. This statement was made due to the brand being accused of being a security risk in the country.

Now, Tao Lin stated that “Tesla as a company with operations in China must abide China’s laws and regulations. Our data is very well protected. Chinese data is stored in China.” The senior official further added that the company would even share its understanding of data protection with the Chinese government. This even prompted the Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk to say that his company would be shut down if the cars were to spy.
