German carmaker Mercedes has now ventured into the electric vehicle market with the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS. In a launch event held on Thursday, the exquisite Mercedes EV model was showcased with many exciting features to give established electric vehicle manufacturers like Tesla a run for the market. The design of the Mercedes-Benz EQS reflects the company’s track record of luxury and excellence combined with beauty and top-notch technology.Mercedes-Benz EQS

Mercedes-Benz hopes to redefine the EV segment for luxury sedans with the new EQS, which comes with features that can measure with some of Tesla’s premium EVs. The release of the Mercedes-Benz EQS is a bold indication that the German automaker intends to pursue the acquisition of a proportion of the market share in the EV market, as the EQS debuts in the United States next fall. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS will be part of the S-Class family.

To underscore the bold intentions of Mercedes-Benz, CEO Ola Kaellenius, in an extensive release document, says that the EQS was designed to exceed the expectations of its teeming customers, and this desire is reflected in all aspects of the EQS, brimming with excellence through and through.

The interior of the 2022 EQS is adorned with gadgets and designed like the cockpit of a spacecraft, with several screens offering operational and entertainment support. The appeal of the futuristic interior of the 2022 EQS is bound to draw enthusiasts for closer scrutiny and even comparison with the overtly simplistic interiors of Tesla’s latest luxury sedans, and this could be a stand-out feature of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS electric vehicle could cost up to $100,000 according to industry watchers who expect the EQS to be more expensive than the latest Mercedes-Benz S-Class and also to be marginally more expensive than Tesla’s Model S large sedans.

The 2022 EQS is the first step in Mercedes-Benz’s “Ambition 2039” initiative to get EV versions of more than half the cars it sells by 2039. The car is the first EV running on a new vehicle platform for Mercedes-Benz and features more efficient batteries with significantly higher energy density and a higher range (about 770km) before needing a recharge. The EQS is also packed with several tech, safety, convenience, and entertainment features that places it at par with current EV sedan models.

Tesla remains the industry leader in EV sales in the US and globally, expanding to other markets, including China. Hence Mercedes-Benz has its work cut out for it as it aims to prise the leaderboard position out of Tesla. The level of acceptance of the 2022 EQS in the US market when it arrives in the fall of 2022 will determine how well it has moved.
