Honor CEO, Zhao Ming, delivered a keynote speech to his alma mater, Shanghai Jiaotong University. In the speech, the senior official stated that the brand will be focusing on the smartphone field rather than joining the recent trend of working on cars.

According to an ITHome report, the executive of the Chinese tech giant is aiming at becoming the number one smartphone brand in China and all across the world. Furthermore, Zhao Ming added that the company will not be joining the car making trend that various Chinese brands are getting involved in. This includes the likes of Huawei, Xiaomi, Oppo, and others. Back in 2020, the company had become independent from its former parent company Huawei.

Since then, Zhao Mind said that Honor has adhered to the “1+8+N” strategy for its smart products that will launch in the future. This includes smartphones being at the core, while the brand will also build integrated experiences through laptops, smart screens, tablets, wearables, hearables, routers, and other electronic products. The official further added that young people use their smartphones for more than 6 hours a day, which is indicative of how crucial smartphones still are to the brand.

Zhao Ming believes that cars, AR technology, and more, will soon become more popular in the future, but smartphones are still irreplaceable and are currently still the best solution. He stated that the company is still consumer centric and will continue to innovate in the industry, while also maintaining relationships with universities and research institutes.
