US retail giant Walmart is giving about 740,000 of its employees a free Samsung Galaxy XCover Pro smartphone as part of its rollout plans for its new employee app. The employees are free to use the smartphone, which costs around $500, for official and personal use.Walmart

Walmart’s new employee app is called Me@Walmart. According to the company, the app will simplify daily tasks, help staff offer excellent services to customers, and help employees plan activities outside the workplace. The app will allow employees to clock in and clock out during their shifts. In addition, employee scheduling, Voice Assistant support, and several features significantly enhance employee performance and the speed of accomplishing tasks.

There are concerns, though, that the new employee app may infringe on employee privacy. However, Walmart has stated that it does not have access to personal data on the phone, and employees cannot access the app when not on scheduled work.
