WhatsApp is the most popular cross-platform instant messaging application. But still, it lags behind Telegram in terms of features. Anyway, the Facebook-owned social app is trying to catch on with the competition in terms of features. As per new findings, the application may finally allow users to share videos as they want to.

Users can send various types of media files on WhatsApp, including videos. However, the platform automatically compresses the videos while sharing. The only way to share an original quality video on WhatsApp is by sending the file as a document.

On the other hand, Telegram allows users to share videos at different quality levels. According to new findings by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp may finally introduce this very same feature for its userbase.

WhatsApp calls this feature ‘Video upload quality’ and it has been spotted in WhatsApp Beta for Android v2.21.14.6. Users can select from three options, namely Auto (recommended), Best quality, and Data saver.

This feature is currently under development. Therefore, it is still now available for users, even for those using the said version of the application. Hopefully, it makes its way to all users sooner than later.

In related news, WhatsApp is also testing other new features like multi-device support, disappearing mode, and view once.
