Handset maker vivo launched the vivo Y20A and Y20G in India in January. The former made its debut first. It was announced at the end of December 2020. Now six months later, the company has increased the price of these two budget smartphones.

According to a tweet by Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd), vivo has incremented the price of vivo Y20A and vivo Y20G by up to ₹1,000 in India. The cheaper vivo Y20A gets a ₹500 price hike, whereas the costlier vivo Y20G receives a ₹1,000 price hike.
The vivo Y20A comes in a single 3GBB + 64GB variant. The handset was released for ₹11,490. With the new ₹500 price increase, the device now retails for ₹11,990.
On the other hand, the vivo Y20G is sold in two variants – 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB. These two models were initially priced at ₹12,990 and ₹14,990 respectively. Due to the recent price hike, the phone now sells for ₹13,990 and ₹15,990.

The vivo Y20A and vivo Y20G are inferior to the competition, which includes the Redmi Note series, realme number series, and realme narzo series. However, the company still manages to sell a number of vivo Y sereis phones via offline channels.
That said, vivo is not the only smartphone brand to hike the price of its phones. Recently, Xiaomi and OPPO had also hiked the price of their handsets.
