The report, citing sources aware of the matter, reveals that the upcoming iPad Mini is codenamed J310. It also confirms that the tablet will come powered by the Apple A15 Bionic chipset, which is expected to power the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup as well. The company could launch the A15X version for the new iPad models coming this year.

It reiterates what was said earlier about the device — that the tablet will feature a design similar to the fourth-generation iPad Air. This time, the iPad Mini won’t be featuring a home button and further, the bezels around the display are now thinner and uniform. It is also said that the product will now come with a USB Type-C port instead of the company’s proprietary Lightning port.

Apart from this, the new report also claims that the Cupertino-based technology giant will be launching an updated version of the entry-level 10.2-inch iPad in the month of September which will be powered by the Apple A13 Bionic chipset, looking similar to the iPad Air 3 model which was launched in 2019.

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had previously said that the upcoming iPad Mini model is expected to come with a display size between 8.5-inch and 9-inch. Apple had last updated the iPad Mini in 2019 with A12 SoC and Apple Pencil support.
