Earlier today (22nd September 2021), Realme held a product launch conference, in which, it announced a new smartphone, the GT Neo2. During this event, the company also revealed that it had become the fourth largest smartphone brand from China and has even managed to reach the sixth spot in the global rankings.

According to the Chinese smartphone maker, the data was from the known analytics/market research based firm, Counterpoint Research, who found that Realme’s smartphone shipments reached 15 million in the second quarter of this year. This marked a whopping 135.1 percent increase year on year. The shipments even propelled the brand into the fourth spot as a Chinese OEM and had it enter the top 6 rank globally for the first time ever.

The report further added that the company is the world’s fastest growing smartphone brand with sales of 100 million units. In Q2 2021, Realme ranked first in the Philippines and Bangladesh, fourth in India, and fifth in Europe. During this same period, it even managed to record a sales increase of a massive 1,006 percent year on year in the Chinese market. This also made it as the fastest growing smartphone maker in the first half of the year.

Furthermore, the company’s market share of 5G handsets also grew from 8.8 percent in the first quarter to 15.9 percent in the second quarter. In this category, Realme ranked third. The company also stated that the company has set its next goal, which is to achieve a “double 100 million” by the end of 2022. By 2023, it aims to further raise the sales volume to hit 100 million units.
