American watchmaker Fossil has launched its latest Gen 6 smartwatch in India. The Fossil Gen 6 was first launched for the global market a couple of weeks back and now, it is available in India. The watch comes with a higher price tag than what it sells in the U.S. The watch starts at Rs. 23,995 (~$325) for the 42mm model and goes up to Rs. 24,995 (~$339) for the 44mm model. For reference, the Gen 6 starts at $299 in the US.
Fossil Gen 6 arrives as the first smartwatch to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processor. This is said to bring up to 30% performance improvement compared to the Gen 5. The processor is paired with 1GB of RAM and there is 8GB of storage onboard.
The watch sports a 1.28-inch touchscreen AMOLED display. The watch is encased in a stainless steel case and is available in 44mm and 42mm case size options. The 44mm variant comes in four color options while the 42mm size is available in 3 color options.
Further, the Fossil Gen 6 comes with a swim-proof, 3 ATM rating. It also features a fast-charging battery and has an Sp02 sensor that allows users to measure their blood oxygen levels. You also get upgraded heart sensors that allow continuous tracking. The watch also has a minute speaker which allows users to make or receive calls and also play music. The watch runs on WearOS 2 but is eligible for an upgrade to WearOS 3 in 2022.
As for the availability, the Fossil Gen 6 will be up for pre-orders in India via Fossil.in and Amazon. The wearable device will go on sale from September 27.
