Luxury smartwatch maker Withings has released the ScanWatch Horizon, its latest hybrid smartwatch with an array of features and functionalities. The Withings ScanWatch Horizon is now on sale in Germany, UK, and France, while a possible launch is projected in the US before the turn of the year.
The new Withings smartwatch combines the traditional mechanical outlook with a digital display. This niche offering from Withings will surely appeal to the interests of a segment of the market desirous of a smart wearable that could still retain the traditional look of a watch. According to Withings, the ScanWatch Horizon’s design was inspired by luxury dive watches, and we can clearly observe these innovations on the reflection-free sapphire glass casing, a stainless steel rotating bezel, illuminating watch hands and indicators, and 10 ATM water resistance rating, indicating it is fine in depths below 100 meters.
It is noted that the ScanWatch Horizon is not capable of going on deep dives, although it will be fine when used in the swimming pool or other water activities like surfing. Its design also makes the watch to be visible even in low-light situations.
There are up to 30 different fitness activities that can be tracked by the ScanWatch Horizon together with multiple sensors. Although it does not have an in-built GPS, it can incorporate GPS tracking using your phone’s GPS via Bluetooth. The battery life is up to 30 days on a full charge, which is massive. The Withings Health Mate app offers syncing functionality for data generated by the smartwatch. The app is available both for Android and iOS users. It is also possible to track performance through Google Fit, Apple Health, and the rest.
The ScanWatch offers ECG measurements which can be prompted when it notices some unusual health activity.
