Earlier today at the HUAWEI Developer Conference 2021, the Chinese tech giant unveiled the latest version of its operating system called HarmonyOS 3. The new software is out for the developers to try out.

Huawei switched to HarmonyOS due to sanctions from the US government. Although the company’s smartphone business is on the verge of dying, the firm continues to push resources in its self-developed software platform.

The third iteration of HarmonyOS focuses on system architecture, Super Device, and one-time development for multi-device deployment.

The HarmonyOS 3 Developer Preview brings flexible deployment tools. Therefore, device developers can select essential components based on hardware requirements to assemble the operating system.

Further, Huawei has made improvements in the UI design to maintain consistency across the operating system as well as various devices. The company has also announced Ark Development Framework 3.0 (ArkUI 3.0), DevEco Studio 3.0, and 6000+ APIs.

In a nutshell, the new version of HarmonyOS tries to bring in more developers and partner OEMs to the platform. That does not mean there will not be any user-front new feature.

So far, Huawei has revealed that Super Device now allows users to connect multiple devices at a time. For instance, a smartphone, a smart TV, and 4 speakers can be combined into a 6-device system for an immersive multimedia experience with a 5.1 channel sound experience.

Having said that, HarmonyOS 3 Beta is scheduled to release in the first quarter of 2022.
