Intel i7-12700H was spotted in the upcoming HP Omen 17 laptop accompanied by the rumored Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti confirming its existence.Intel 12th Generation Alder Lake Processor

HP is gearing up to launch what looks to be a new flagship in their Omen line of laptops targeted towards the high-end gaming and enthusiast segment. According to a benchmark discovered on Geekbench, The upcoming laptop is armed with the next-gen Intel Alder lake-P (Laptop) CPU, The i7-12700H and, an Nvidia RTX 3080ti.

The i7-12700H appears to be a 14 core 20 thread processor i.e 6 Golden cove cores for single thread intensive workloads and 8 Grace Mont cores for tasks that require multiple threads. In addition to the new architecture, the chip features a base clock speed of 2.44 GHz and a boost clock of 4.15 GHz. The processor reportedly has 24MB of LC cache and an expected TDP of 35-45W.

On the Graphics side of things, the Nvidia RTX 3080 Ti is rumored to have a new Ampere GA103 SKU. The GPU is going to have 16 GB of GDDR6 memory operating at a memory clock of 12 Gbps across a 256-bit bus. Additionally, the 3080 Ti contains 58 compute units for a total of 7424 CUDA cores running at a maximum frequency of 1395 MHz. The GPU aims to deliver performance similar to the GeForce RTX 3080 desktop in a mobile form factor, with key optimizations for faster clock and efficiency management.

Other specifications of the upcoming HP Omen 17 consist of an HP 8A18 motherboard and 32 GB of RAM. The laptop has managed to score 127,392 in OpenCL and 90,114 points in Vulkan benchmarks which is slightly lower than the RTX 3080Ti laptop version, which could be due to unoptimized drivers or the GPU being a Max-Q variant. i7-12700H outperforms the Ryzen 5980HX by around 1800 points in the Geekbench multi-core benchmark but, Lags 178 points behind it in the single-core benchmark.

This being the early leak of the product, the performance is expected to go up as the hardware and software are further optimized in the future.
