BYD, which is one of the world’s leading e-bus manufacturers, has announced that it has received yet another large electric bus order from Finland. Nobina, the local transport operator of Finland has ordered 70 more e-buses.

Out of the 70 new electric buses, 42 of them are 13 meters long while 28 of them are 15 meters long. The company has said that these new buses are to be delivered in the summer of 2022 and will mainly operate on city routes in the greater Helsinki area.

The 13-meter models are relatively close to the 12-meter buses that are common in Europe. The 15-meter buses with double axles at the rear are mainly used in Scandinavia for intercity transport.

Both these variants ordered by Nobina are equipped with LFP batteries from BYD. In the 13-meter bus, one charge can cover a distance of around 400 kilometers while the 15-meter bus is rated to cover 450 kilometers on a single charge.

Commenting on this, Petri Auno, CEO of Nobina Finland, said: “We continue to select BYD eBuses based on their excellent track record for reliability, operational efficiency, performance, safety and of course, for the comfort they provide to our passengers. BYD eBuses now account for 25% of our Nobina Finland fleet and we look forward to enhancing this in the future.”

As noted, this is another order from Finland for BYD as the country had previously ordered 76 electric buses for use in Helsinki and Turku, which were delivered by the company earlier this year in August. With this new order, the total number of electric buses to be delivered by BYD in Finland stands at 119.
