Smartphone OEMs in China are competing against each other to launch the first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered flagship. Motorola is expected to announce the Moto Edge X30 featuring the new SD8G1 chip on Dec. 9. Xiaomi is also expected to announce the Xiaomi 12 series of flagship phones powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship this month. Last week, Realme claimed that it will be launching the Realme GT 2 Pro with SD8G1 onboard this month. Now, the brand has confirmed it will be making an announcement on the GT 2 Pro on Dec. 9.

Probably, Realme may confirm the Realme GT 2 Pro launch date on the said date. There is a possibility that may introduce the GT 2 Pro before Motorola’s event to snatch the title of the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone. As far as the Edge X30 is concerned, Motorola is expected to carry out its first sale on Dec. 15 after its unveiling event on Dec. 9.

The Realme GT 2 Pro will come with a 6.51-inch AMOLED FHD+ display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It is expected to come preinstalled with Realme UI 3.0 skinned Android 12. It is likely to house a 5,000mAh battery that supports 125W fast charging.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 powered GT 2 Pro may come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It may feature a 32-megapixel camera for capturing selfies. Its rear camera system may include an OIS-ready 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide shooter, and a 5-megapixel depth/macro camera.
