The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra has been rumored to feature a 108-megapixel primary sensor which is the same pixel count as its predecessor and the current-gen Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, new reports have emerged suggesting that the S22 Ultra’s camera will carry some new features that might make it the best camera phone yet.

According to the noted leakster Ice Universe, the upcoming Galalxy S22 Ultra will produce better, more detailed pictures by using the new image quality enhancement mode, powered by artificial intelligence. It will help enhance details, colors, and brightness. The leaker even claimed to have sample photos as evidence but cannot share them yet. The feature will help unlock the true potential of this massive 108-megapixel sensor catapulting the smartphone’s camera performance to be among, if not the best in the world.

But that’s not all, South Korean publication Itmaterial has spotted a few lines of code revealing that the upcoming Galaxy S22 Ultra might offer Macro Photography mode via its 108MP primary camera. The feature is called ‘Detail enhancer’ and, although unconfirmed, it is likely to be supported on the older Ultra devices with the 108MP sensors via software update.

The Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is expected to launch in February of 2022 with a quad-camera featuring an enhanced 108MP ISOCELL HM3 (could be ISOCELL HM4) primary camera, a 12 MP ultrawide sensor, and two new 10MP Sony telephoto sensory with 3x and 10x zoom capabilities. Additionally, the phone is expected to feature a 40MP front camera.

The device will have the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC under its hood but might even come with Samsung’s own Exynos 2200 SoC. The phone is rumored to come with two RAM configurations of 12GB paired with 128/256GB storage and 16GB paired with 512GB. Previous leaks reveal that the device may come in Dark Red, Black, and White color options, but some reports have also pointed to a new Green color option.
