Honor has confirmed that the brand’s first foldable smartphone is named the Honor Magic V and the China-based company has teased this new device a few times, indicating that the phone’s launch isn’t far away.
Today, the company has confirmed that the Honor Magic V will be officially launched in its home market China on 10th January at 07:30 PM local time. The company is also expected to launch the Honor Magic UI 6.0 at the same event.
The teaser poster shared by the company gives a look at the upcoming phone, revealing that it will feature a vertical-stipe back in Silver color. There’s also a triple-camera setup on the back with the camera sensors placed vertically and the camera module placed in the top-left corner along with an LED flash.
Honor CEO Zhao Ming has already revealed that the Magic V foldable smartphone is equipped with the company’s self-developed patented hinge technology which is said to be the thinnest in the industry.
Previously, the company had confirmed that the smartphone will come with a book-like fold design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold3 and not the clamshell fold as we have seen on the Galaxy Z Flip3 or the Moto Razr smartphones.
The Honor Magic V has been developed with a focus on a large-screen experience and is said to offer a tablet-like experience when unfolded, with the apps being optimized for their adoption on the large screen.
The device is confirmed to come powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset which was launched earlier this month. As per the leaks, the phone will come with an 8-inch inner display and a 6.5-inch cover screen. It is also said to use display panels supplied by BOE and Visionox.
In the camera department, there will be a 50-megapixel primary camera sensor. The phone will be running the Magic UI 6.0 based on the Android 12 operating system and the device is expected to be powered by a 5,100mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.
