Instagram might be working on a new feature that adds another layer of user interaction with its Stories segment. Apparently, the app may soon let users reply to Stories with voice notes.

This upcoming feature was spotted by a software developer Alessandro Paluzzi who shared the news on Twitter. Looking at the tweet, it appears that Meta, the company behind the social media platform, is looking to bring this new feature soon. In the image that was shared, we can see a microphone option along on the right side of the chat box, which is how one usually responds to Instagram Stories.

This basically means that users will soon be able to send direct voice replies, rather than having to type a message or send an emoji. As of right now, it is still unconfirmed is this feature will actually make it to the live build, although, it won’t be surprise if voice replies on Stories arrives soon. Notably, Instagram is also known to copy a lot of the features from its competitors, like Stories was a direct rival to Snapchat stories while Reels was an answer to the growing short video sharing platform, TikTok.

Furthermore, Paluzzi found this feature by reverse engineering one of the latest versions of the application. This means that the company is working on bringing voice reply support, but it might not have a set date or timeline of release as of right now. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.
