Among the Chinese tech giants, like Realme, Oppo, Huawei, none have been able to able to rival the implementation of Xiaomi’s IoT Smart Home Ecosystem, also sometimes referred to as the MIJIA ecosystem. The ecosystem includes many Smart Home IoT appliances, ranging from colour-changing LED light bulbs, security cameras, rice cookers, to even washing machines.

Xiaomi’s latest addition to its connected smart home ecosystem is the Xiaomi Wireless Bluetooth Power Switch available for 69 RMB (11 USD) in China, which could bring much more convenience to your smart home setup.

Let’s start with the design, the Xiaomi Wireless Power Switch comes in a matte white beige finish with two large rectangular buttons on the left and right.

Users are able to configure the buttons with customisable functions via the Xiaomi Home app, with functions like turning on the Bluetooth connected Mijia LED lights, turning on the Xiaomi Rice Cooker or activating Xiaoai, Xiaomi’s smart assistant integrated into its smart speakers to listen to your commands, with a press of a button from across the room.

The power switch is also configurable up to 7 functions at a time, with different methods of activation such as the single-press on the left or right button, double-press on each button, or a long-press on each button.

As for the battery, the Xiaomi Wireless Power Switch comes with an inbuilt battery which Xiaomi claims to provide up to 3 years of battery life. The 3 years of battery life was done in internal durability tests where researchers assumed that one’s daily button-pressing is 5 single-presses, 5 double-presses, and 5 long-presses.

Xiaomi mentions that they have designed the power switch for users to place it wherever they want. Whether it be a kitchen countertop, living room desk or connected to your wall, the design of the power switch will always be able to complement your surroundings.
