Just yesterday, we reported on Okinawa recalling its Praise Pro electric scooters in India over a faulty battery issue that caused fire accidents. Now, another EV has gone up in flames in India. And this time, it is the Pure EV e-scooter that has made the headlines again.

In a video shared on YouTube, we can see another Pure EV electric scooter going up in flames. Notably, this marks the fourth electric scooter from the brand to have caught fire in India. Back in September 2021, two e-scooters of the same model were engulfed in flames in Hyderabad, while another model recently caught fire in Chennai in March 2022. Furthermore, there have also been other e-scooter models from other brands like Ola, Okinawa, and more that have suffered from fire related accidents.

The latest incident comes from Warangal in Telangana, where a red Pure EV Pluto burst into flames. It was parked on the side of the road, with the video showing the vehicle being engulfed in smoke and flames. There were also sounds of the fresh lithium ion cells catching fire, which was indicative through the occasional popping sound. It is believed that the chain reaction signified a thermal runaway that has been a major issue behind most fire accidents related to EVs.

Pure EV

This marks the 6th EV fire incident in India now. As of right now, the Road Transport Ministry has directed the Centre for Fire Explosive and Environment Safety (CFEES) to begin an in depth investigation and find out the causes behind this by the end of this month. It remains to be seen what results are uncovered regarding this matter, so stick around for more updates.
