OPPO Reno 7 Pro 5G was launched earlier in February this year in India. The smartphone arrived with Android 11 OS out of the box. Now, the brand is rolling out its proprietary ColorOS 12 update based on the latest Android 12 for users in India.

It’s worth noting that OPPO is releasing the ColorOS 12 based Android 12 update on a batch-by-batch basis. Hence, it might take some time for your device to receive the software update. Users can check the update by heading to Settings > Software Update > Check for ColorOS 12 version and select update.

To update to the latest software version, users must ensure that their Reno 7 Pro 5G is updated to the official version of the ColorOS 11 with target version C.03.

OPPO warns users to back up important data before updating to avoid loss caused due to incompatibility or unforeseen circumstances. After the update is complete, the OS will automatically optimise the device. Additionally, the brand also states that there are some third-party apps that may not be compatible with Android 12 and may experience issues like crashes, lags and more.

OPPO’s ColorOS 12 comes with an Infinite Design concept that offers a clean, lightweight, and customisable user experience. The software version supports 67 global languages out of which 13 are major Indian languages. The Wallpaper-based Theming system in Material You changes the theme of the system based on the colour of the wallpaper. There are also new features like the Screen Translate option in the sidebar, three-finger translation powered by Google Lens. Users can continue streaming content in the background. There are also conversation widgets and dark mode options. The Quantum Animation Engine 3.0 in ColorOS 12 promises smoother animations during launching, closing, and scrolling apps.

ColorOS 12 based Android 12 also brings improved security through features like Privacy Dashboards, Microphone and Camera indicators, and more.
