Following the various sanctions from the US, Huawei faced various issues with its smartphone business. But despite losing one of its major operations, the company still launched a number of new products outside of just smartphones. Now, one such gadget is rumored to be a new smart tracker that was recently spotted online.

Huawei

According to a MySmartPrice report, the Chinese tech giant’s upcoming smart tracker was spotted on Bluetooth SIG certification website prior to its release. For those unaware, a smart tracker is a small device that helps users find their lost items or belongings that the tracker is attached to. Looking at the certification listing, the Huawei Tag Smart Tracker was carried the model number KRI-CE010.

As per the database, the company’s smart tracker will come with support for Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity. To explain things simply, a smart tag usually works by relying on Bluetooth technology to pair with the smartphones. So, it is one of its integral features. Although, we can also expect Huawei’s smart tracker offering to feature ultra wideband technology as well, similar to the Apple AirTag.

Apple AirTag

Meaning, we might see a new Samsung and Apple rival for a smart tracker in the market. As of right now, it is unclear if the Chinese brand’s smart tag will use a custom chip or not, but since it was listed on Bluetooth SIG, we can expect the launch to be just around the corner. Notably, we had previously also reported on the company trademarking the moniker “Huawei S-Tag,” so this might be the device that had surfaced in the past.
