The spiritual successor of the Essential phone will also come with a heavy emphasis on privacy and security. Now, after Qualcomm’s official unveiling of the new Snapdragon chipsets, OSOM has announced that the upcoming OSOM OV1 will come with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform chipset at its heart.

This announcement confirms that the OV1 will likely be a smartphone targeting the premium segment. Other than the SoC on the device, previous reports have already revealed many of the specs and features coming with the OSOM OV1.

Starting with one of the most interesting features, the device will come with a privacy-focused “Secure Data Cable” in the box. This cable will have a switch which can allow or restrict data transfer via the cable making it more secure to charge your device in public or by connecting it to a PC or laptop.

A recent report revealed that the smartphone will come with an OLED display panel, however, the resolution, refresh rate, and other display details are still under wraps. What we do know is that the device will have slim bezels, a small chin, and rounded edges, as seen in a recently teased image.

The smartphone will also come with privacy-focused apps preloaded like Brave browser, Signal, etc. It will run on an Android-based operating system and offer support for dual SIM with 5G ultra-wideband connectivity.
