Earlier today (3rd June 2022), Xiaomi has announced that it has made various organization changes in India. The company has shuffled its top management, ahead of its plans for a new growth phase in the region.
The Chinese tech giant has announced that Alvin Tse is now the brand’s new General Managed, replacing Manu Kumar Jain who was the previous managing director in India. On the other hand, Manu has been the global Vice President of Xiaomi and is also heading the International Marketing and PR since last year. Notably, the new announcement has also confirmed that POCO India’s Anuj Sharma will be joining Xiaomi as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Interestingly, Alvin Tse was previously the company’s Global founding team member and even the former General Manager of Xiaomi Indonesia. Tse has also helped the brand expand successfully in the global market as well, working in four of the largest smartphone and internet markets in the world. Now, he is joining the Indian leadership team to support the brand’s plans for the next phase of growth.
Interestingly, the news also arrives as Xiaomi is facing scrutiny in India by the local government. The company’s former MD, Manu Kumar Kain, was recently accused for committing tax fraud, meanwhile, the government had also seized the company’s assets that were worth 5,550 crores INR (roughly 708 million US Dollars). Although, these were released later on.
