Key details of the canceled Meta smartwatch have been leaked online. It is unclear why the development of the smartwatch was discontinued but the new details are quite illuminating. Meta Milan (as it was codenamed internally) was in development for two years. However, Meta, earlier this week announced a discontinuation of its development.Meta smartwatch

Rumors had been on the air since last year of an impending Meta smartwatch. It was also projected to be launched in 2023 before it was canceled. No reasons were provided by Meta for the decision to pull the plug on Milan. A prototype of the Meta smartwatch has now surfaced showing its design and dual camera setup.

The Meta watch prototype is designed with a removable body and has two buttons on the case. The Meta watch also features two cameras (5MP and 12MP), which is quite remarkable. The 5MP front camera is seen as a water drop notch, while the 12MP camera is located at the back together with several sensors. The Meta watch is detachable because its cameras can be used to take photos and record videos. This can be a very useful feature in certain circumstances.

The canceled Meta watch also was projected to offer several standalone features like WhatsApp, Spotify One, and Instagram Stories. It also offers GPS, cellular, and Wi-Fi connectivity essentially transforming it into a pint-sized phone, sort of. The basic health and fitness features would also have been on offer with the Meta watch. The device is reported to be capable of delivering up to 18 hours of battery life on a single charge.

There are indications that another smartwatch is already in the works. The canceled Meta smartwatch was rumored to cost around $349. It is unclear at this time when the new Meta smart wearable will enter the market.
