While Europe welcomed the Honor Magic4 series with two variants, in China the Chinese giant reborn after the separation from Huawei launched a brand new series of high-end phones: the Honor 70 lineup. It is composed of three variants: the vanilla Honor 70, the Honor 70 Pro, and the Honor 70 Pro Plus. They go from the midrange segment to the flagship one and they provide original designs and outstanding specifications for every kind of user. Design

The Honor 70, the Pro, and the Pro Plus variants have the same design and they only differ in their color variants. The vanilla version, for example, comes with very original color options including special textures on the rear side, as well as the Pro Plus. But overall, the design scheme does not change between these three handsets. What changes are the dimensions, the thickness, and the weight. The vanilla version comes with a more compact design because it has a smaller display. Further, it is thinner and lighter than the Pro variants. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have the same bigger dimensions and the same thicker body.

 

Display

All of these phones come with amazing displays and they are at the same level. They provide you with great OLED panels able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. The color reproduction is very realistic, the blacks are very deep, and there is an in-display fingerprint reader on each of these phones. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus have exactly the same panel with a punch hole placed centrally, while the vanilla Honor 70 only differs because of a smaller display, but not so smaller. These handsets are equipped with great stereo speakers, but they do not offer a 3.5 mm audio jack.

 

Specs & Software

Among the most important difference between these three handsets, there is definitely the processor. The Honor 70 is considered a mid-ranger because it sports a Snapdragon 778G+ mobile platform built at 6 nm with a max frequency of 2.5 GHz. The Honor 70 Pro comes right after with a MediaTek Dimensity 8000 mobile platform running at a max frequency of 2.75 GHz. At last, the Honor 70 Pro Plus is the flagship because it sports the most powerful Mediatek chipset out there: the Dimensity 9000 built at 4 nm and running at a max frequency of 3.05 GHz. With the exception of the Pro Plus variant coming with up to 256 GB of internal storage, all the phones sport a max amount of storage of 512 GB, as well as 12 GB of RAM in the most advanced configurations. They run Android 12 customized by Magic UI 6.1.

 

Camera

All the phones of the trio come with a triple camera including a 54 MP main sensor and a 50 MP ultrawide lens. The Honor 70 Pro and the Pro Plus replace the useless 2 MP macro sensor of the vanilla version with an 8 MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and OIS, that is the reason why they have better zoom capabilities. They also replace the 32 MP main camera of the vanilla version with a superior 50 MP snapper.

 

Battery

Despite the Honor 70 being the most affordable and even the thinnest handset of the trio, it is equipped with a bigger battery, with a capacity of 4800 mAh instead of the 4500 mAh capacity found on the remaining models. So it is able to provide a longer battery life on a single charge. On the other hand, the Pro and the Pro Plus are able to charge quicker thanks to 100W fast charging. All of these phones support reverse charging allowing you to use the phone as a power bank to charge other devices.

 

Price

The starting price of the Honor 70 in China roughly translates to €380/$395, the Honor 70 Pro starts from €520/$542 in its base configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of native storage, and the Pro Plus starts from €600/$625 in the same configuration.
