eSIM is definitely getting popular day by day. It won’t be wrong to say that OEMs will soon replace physical SIM cards with electronic SIM cards. But there’s still time for that and the majority of the smartphones still don’t support eSim, even not alongside a standard SIM. Samsung’s current foldables were no exception to this. However, the South Korean tech giant is rectifying this by bringing support for eSIM and Dual SIM, Dual Standby (DSDS) to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 in the U.S

Samsung has started rolling out the June 2022 security update to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3. The latest security update is being released in several parts of the world, including the US and Europe. The update is bringing eSIM support, new camera features, and security patches to US variants of the foldables.

Galaxy Z Fold 3

In the US, the update is being released to the T-Mobile Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Flip 3 smartphones with F926USQU1DVEE and F711USQU2DVEE, software versions respectively.

The unlocked models are also receiving the eSIM functionality/ The releases for the unlocked models are labeled as F926U1UEU1DVEE and F711U1UEU2DVEE for the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3.

The eSIM support brings dual-SIM functionality with it so the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Flip3 users can now have one physical SIM and one eSIM working at the same time, through DSDS. As mentioned, the new updates also bring a lot of camera features that are available in the Galaxy S22 series.

It is worth mentioning that the updates are rolling out in a phased manner, so it might take a few days or a week to reach every unit out there.
