Back in May 2022, Oppo announced the Reno 8 series in China. And now, the company is planning on launching the latest generation of its popular Reno series smartphones in India as well. So let’s have a look at their expected specs, design, and pricing in the region.

Oppo Reno 8 & Reno 8 Pro Design & Display

The Reno 8 series originally consisted of three handsets, although, the Chinese brand is only launching two models in the Indian market. This includes the base Reno 8 and the Reno 8 Pro model. However, the Reno 8 Pro is actually a rebrand of the higher end Reno 8 Pro+ model. Taking a look at their design, the base model sports a 6.43 inch AMOLED display that has a 90Hz refresh rate. On the other hand, the Reno 8 Pro in India will sport a larger 6.7 inch AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate.

The base model has a punch hole cut out on the top left corner of the display, while the Pro model will have a center aligned punch hole selfie camera. On the rear, the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro features a large rectangular camera island on the top left corner of the rear panel. This module houses the triple camera setup. In recent times, the company has shifted its smartphone to offer a more flat design both on the front and rear.

Specifications

Under the hood, the base model is confirmed to be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 1300 SoC. Meanwhile, the Reno 8 Pro India variant is also confirmed to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX chipset. Apart from this, the company will also ship the higher end model with its MariSilicon X NPU chip, which will help improve image quality.

For cooling, both models are also expected to come with a VC liquid cooling system. The Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro will be powered by a 4,500mAh battery pack that will support up to 80W SUPERVOOC fast charging as well. Notably, both models will also come with an in display fingerprint scanner.

Camera

While both the Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro feature a triple camera setup, there are some differences in the camera module. The vanilla variant has a 50 megapixel primary sensor that is paired with a 2 megapixel secondary shooter, and a 2 megapixel macro lens. The Reno 8 Pro will feature a 50 megapixel primary camera along with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. For the selfie shooter, the Reno 8 series will house a 32 megapixel front facing sensor.
