A Reddit video has used the incident to draw home the argument that the iPhone is among the most durable phones on the market. The bullet was fired at the soldier who was having an iPhone on his plate carrier. The bullet hit the phone and did not pierce beyond it to hurt the soldier. It has to be noted however that the plate carrier offers some degree of protection against gunshots.
The iPhone 11 Pro was in the front of the plate so it took the bullet hit. The durability of the smartphone was captured as the bullet did not penetrate beyond the phone. Several features make the iPhone 11 Pro from 2019 to be durable. It has Corning glass and a stainless steel structural band. It is a very tough device as shown by several extreme tests.
