A new report has revealed that India is one of the cheapest countries in terms of mobile data pricing. It was found that the region ranked 5th in terms of lowest mobile data pricing among 233 countries.

The news arrives from Cable.co.uk, who compiled the list of the 233 nations. In this list, it recorded the cost of 1GB of mobile data in all of the countries. Interestingly enough, Israel was the leader in terms of lowest data cost with a 1GB being priced at just 0.04 US Dollars. On the other hand, a British Overseas Territory in the South Atlantic Ocean ranked as the most expensive, with 1GB of data costing a whopping 41.06 US Dollars.

The North American region is general was one of the more pricier region in the world averaging around 4.98 US Dollars. Meanwhile, Israel, Italy, San Marino, Fiji, and India (in order) are the top five cheapest countries for the cost of mobile data. In India, 1GB of mobile data costs just 0.17 US Dollars, which is quite convenient for the population that greatly relies on mobile data. This was created high demand, which forces telecom operators to offer competitive pricing to stay relevant in the market.

The report also found that the nations that had cheaper mobile data rates typically had one of two factors. This included either excellent networking infrastructure or a heavy reliance on mobile data. On the other side, most expensive nations usually had small consumption or terrible infrastructure. The top five most expensive countries include Saint Helena, the Falkland Islands, São Tomé and Príncipe, Tokelau, and Yemen, out of which four of the give are island nations.
