According to the most recent beta releases of the application, WhatsApp is reportedly working on many new privacy-focused features. Among the new privacy features discovered by WABetaInfo are login approval and phone number sharing in WhatsApp groups.

WhatsApp beta version 2.22.17.22 makes it apparent that the company is creating a new login approval system to aid users in safeguarding their accounts. As a result, in order to access your WhatsApp account, a third party will now need your approval to request a login.

Users will consequently be able to reject login requests if someone is trying to access their account as a result of an inaccurate 6-digit code sharing.

Another noteworthy privacy feature revealed by WhatsApp beta v2.22.17.23 is the option to share phone numbers. If you’d prefer, you can use this feature to hide your phone numbers from particular WhatsApp groups.

By default, this option is turned off, so when you join a group, your phone number is automatically hidden from all participants. If you choose, however, you can share it with a particular group.

Other than the privacy features, the instant messaging service is also testing out the ability to respond to its version of stories, the status, with emojis. Users will be able to quickly react to status using eight pre-determined emojis including Smiling Face with Heart-Eyes, Face with Tears of Joy, Face with Open Mouth, Crying Face, Folded Hands, Clapping Hands, Party Popper, and Hundred Points. This feature is currently being tested on the WhatsApp Beta Android version 2.22.17.24.
