Samsung is rolling a fresh Android 12 update to the Galaxy S22 series, which includes the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra. The new update brings a couple of new features to the camera and other improvements. Samsung has added a telephoto lens in rear hyperlapse mode and also improved the QR scanner for better navigation. Let’s take a look at all the details.

Samsung recently announced through a community post that Galaxy S22 series will be receiving a latest Android 12 update (Via GSMarena). As per the company, the new update will add telephoto camera support for the hyperlapse mode.

The hyperlapse mode in the Galaxy S22 series smartphones already supports recording through wide and ultrawide cameras, but the new update will enable an additional 3X zoom option. In addition, Samsung confirmed it is working on a new feature called Astro Hyperlapse, that will allow users to click super-artistic photos of the night sky.

Furthermore, the company improved QR code scanning in the camera. The QR scanner will now have a bigger scanning area and offer a tap-to-scan option in case the app fails to find the code on its own. The update also addresses a bug in the Camera app’s QR code scanner, which prevented users from scanning a QR code if the Camera app detected a document.

Lastly, the update improves HDR Performance and color reproduction. It also optimizes Memory usage and AI Performance in Photo, Video, and Night modes as well.

Samsung has already started rolling out the update in South Korea and it is expected to reach other regions very soon. However, the company is yet to share a timeline for a wider timeline.
