Apple has just announced the latest iPhone 14 series of smartphones this week, but fans and online netizens have already begun to create and share hilarious memes of Apple’s latest flagship lineup on Twitter. Here’s a roundup of the 4 viral memes shared about the iPhone 14 series so far.

1. The iPhone 14 Sus and Sus Max

This year’s iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max ditch the traditional Apple notch on the front display, for the new pill-shaped cutout, marketed as the “Dynamic Island”. However, one Twitter user, @malditoleandro can’t seem to keep his mind away from the resemblance of the new iPhone 14 Pro design to the popular online multiplayer game, Among Us.

As pointed out in the wallpaper illustration of his Twitter post, the iPhone, the new “Dynamic Island” is very similar to the spacesuit worn by the crewmates in the multiplayer social deduction game, Among Us that went viral during the COVID lockdowns. 

What makes the meme funny is that online users try searching for items in real life that seem to resemble the design of the crewmate in Among Us, calling it sus, or an imposter, as if they are playing the game in real life.

 

2. Is it just me or is my old iPhone getting slower?

Like many Apple iPhone releases in prior years, many iPhone users reported that their older iPhones were getting slower after getting the latest iOS update after the newest iPhone had been announced. Twitter user, @insanetweet shares a meme video showing how their iPhone load times after the Apple iPhone 14 event today.

The video shows obvious stuttering of a girl dancing, implying that the performance of their iPhone X has gotten slower. The tweet has since garnered over 150K likes, implying that many iPhone users feel the same situation is happening to them as well.

Although Apple was previously proven in court of deliberately slowing down older iPhones years prior, it could be a matter of the Placebo Effect on older iPhone users, as when they see a new iPhone released, they perceive their older iPhones to be inferior and slower.

 

3. Organ Donations for the new iPhone 14

Excluding the US, the new iPhone 14 series launch prices are comparatively 10 to 30 percent higher than last year’s iPhone 13 series launch. Along with the price increase, Twitter user @jayshompy shares a video of them walking out in the open with a glucose drip bag after selling their left lung to buy the iPhone 14 Pro Max.

Jokes similar to this have already been circulating around the Internet ever since the launch of the first iPhone where buyers claim that they sold their kidneys to buy the latest iPhone.

The reason for the price increase of the iPhone 14 series globally could be that of rising inflation and wages across the world, as well as the USD exchange rate index going strong against foreign currencies, thus when converted into local pricing, it is 10 to 30 percent more expensive in the region that you are living in.

 

4. New Number, Familiar Face

The standard iPhone 14 series this year, didn’t include as much as upgrades as the iPhone 14 Pro series. In fact, the standard iPhone 14 still has the same notch, the same dual camera setup and the same A15 Bionic SoC found on last year’s iPhone 13. Twitter user, @wallstmemes, shares the sentiment, by posting a grandfather buying a new striped collar shirt that is identical to the old striped collar shirt that he was already wearing.
