In March 2022, Apple launched the iPhone SE 2022 smartphone in the global market. The device was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 43,900. Several months after its initial release, Apple has raised the price of the iPhone SE 2022 by Rs 6,000 across all storage configurations. This price hike comes days after the launch of the new iPhone 14 series.

The company did not provide any explicit reasons for the price increase, but one can guess it is due to the widening difference between the value of the rupee and the US dollar. Moreover, rising component and logistics costs may be factors contributing to the price increase.

The price for the 64GB base model has been increased from Rs. 43,990 ($552) to Rs. 49,990 ($628). Similarly, the 128GB model now costs Rs 54,900 ($691) instead of Rs 48,900 ($615) and the 256GB model price has been hiked from Rs 58,900 ($740) to Rs 64,900 ($816).

The SE 2022 has a 4.7-inch Retina display with an HD+ resolution (1334 x 750 pixels), 326 ppi pixel density, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The display is surrounded by thick top and chin bezels. The home button located on the chin of the device, is integrated with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor. The device is powered by the A15 Bionic chip and runs on iOS 15.

On the back of the iPhone SE 2022 is an OIS-enabled 12-megapixel camera. It can record 4K videos at 60 frames per second. The phone’s front-facing camera is a 7-megapixel FaceTime camera. In terms of connectivity, it has 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, NFC, and a Lightning port. Finally, it boasts an IP67-rated water-resistant design.
